

Mike Purkey is the president and editor of Golf Nation and has been writing about golf for more than 25 years. A former newspaper writer and editor, Mike was a Senior Editor at GOLF Magazine for 13 years. While at GOLF, Mike won two writing awards from the Golf Writers Association of America and three from the International Network of Golf.
His work has appeared in Golf World, Sports Illustrated, Travel + Leisure Golf, Golf Connoisseur, Golf Business and Golf International.
He is the co-author of "Playing a Round With the Little Pro" (Atria) with famed teaching professional Eddie Merrins and "Legends of Golf: 25 Years of the Champions Tour" (Tehabi) with Melanie Hauser. Mike is a former president of the Golf Writers Association of America.

In 1988, he formed Reid Nelson Promotions, LLC, a public relations firm specializing in the promotion of golf-oriented properties, manufacturers and tour operators. He represented eight ‘top 100’ courses and worked with the most well-known and respected course architects in the business, including Tom Fazio, Jack Nicklaus, Pete Dye, Arnold Palmer, Rees Jones, Bill Coore & Ben Crenshaw, Gary Player, Arthur Hills and more.
He served as vice-chairman and media committee chairman for the 1985 U.S. Senior Amateur and as vice-chairman of the media committee for the 1991 Ryder Cup. His by-line has appeared in more than 15 national and regional publications, including Links, Golfweek, Score Magazine (Canada) and The Sporting News.
